Pre-Course Work Guidance 2021

Pre-course Requirements (Please allow a minimum of four weeks to commence pre-course work)

Operative Experience Questionnaire
Responses to the questionnaire will help us to place candidates into a group of peers with similar experience and ensure optimal training.  We will contact you by e-mail once the questionnaire is open.  There will be a date to complete by which will which will then allow the organising team time to place candidates into the appropriate group.

During the course groups of four to six candidates will rotate around eight continually assessed modules. Group listing will be issued at registration on TBC.

Operative Skills & Expectations Survey
The set of questions within the Operative Skills & Expectations Survey are designed to give the training team a better understanding of your experiences and abilities as a trainee surgeon.  It is important to note that this is not a “test” and you will not be evaluated on your answers.  Completing the survey is entirely optional.  We plan to use the responses for research purposes (e.g. publication in peer-reviewed journals) and to structure/inform our teaching.  Responses will be fully anonymised and the survey complies with the data protection guidelines and the declaration of Helsinki and has been approved by the School of Psychology Research Ethics Committee, University of Leeds

Pre-Course MCQ
There will be a pre-course questionnaire to complete and we will contact you by e-mail once this is open.  This will be a timed session and candidates will have 45 minutes to complete the MCQ paper and will not be able to complete part of the paper then return at a later time.

We will then ask candidates to complete a timed post-course MCQ on Day 5 of the course, when scores should improve from the knowledge and experience gained by attendance at the course.
